Just a short post this week to remind everyone about Royal Bison, Holiday 2017 edition, which is running this weekend and next. We’re a little late to the party this weekend (thanks, splitting headache), but the biannual art and craft fair will be back next Friday to Sunday with plenty of awesome stuff made by YEG artists and artisans. It’s taking place in the usual spot in the Old Strathcona Performing Arts Centre at 8426 Gateway Boulevard. The hours are Friday 5 – 9, Saturday 10 – 5, and Sunday 10 – 4. Admission is $3 for you and nothing at all for your kids.
Hard to believe, but Royal Bison is in its 10th year in 2017. Started by illustrator Raymond Biesinger, the fair has been guided over the years by a number of people. Nowadays it’s designers Vikki Wiercinski and Andrew Benson running the show. Since the first ever fair on May 26 – 27, 2007, over 400 artists and makers have set up shop over 27 weekends. Safe to say, Royal Bison is now an Edmonton institution. Check out this for some pics and stuff from the last 10 years.
One of the cooler booths is the very same one that the Bolo Tie Collective will be sitting at: Biblio-Bison! It’s all books (and a few mags) all the time at Biblio-Bison, which features the work and wares of Edmonton’s premier literary publishers. Besides us, the following good folks will be represented here: Burning Water, Eighteen Bridges, Glass Buffalo, Hingston & Olsen Publishing, Monto Books, Newest Press, On Spec, and Stonehouse Publishing.
