The McLuhan House Book Club
Writer and publisher, Jason Lee Norman, from Edmonton is The McLuhan House Book Club featured reader for December . He is the editor of two 40 Below anthologies and has also created the publishing imprint Monto Books that released three books in 2017, included the ambitious Project Compass, a novel with four authors. He is the co-founding editor of Funicular Magazine that publishes creative writing, featuring not only local talent but also original work from around the world. Norman’s devotion to writing includes his any-means-necessary approach and this has spurred some great creative solutions for fun literary events.
Inspired by his return to Edmonton from the University of Manchester, Norman wrote two short-story collection and released two editions of 40 Below: Edmonton’s Winter Anthology. With contributions from 50 authors of original pieces of poetry, fiction, and short essays, the first edition was published in November 2013, followed by a second printing in 2014. The second volume was published in 2015 and includes a selection of Alberta authors.

Edmonton Public Libraries Presents Emerging Writers Showcase #3
Once again, 4 talented writers step forward to have their work presented in staged readings. Hear these diverse voices presented by some of Edmonton’s finest acting talent! Directed by Darrin Hagen, hear this final of 3 showcases that introduce emerging writers to the experience of having their work performed.
WGA Annual Holiday Party
WGA’s annual holiday party on Dec 5 will be at the Almanac on Whyte (7pm). They are excited to welcome writers from almost every decade possible to represent their respective demographics for an evening of getting to know WGA members unlike any before. The proud writers currently scheduled to perform their work are:
