Weekend Writing Prompts: NEW BEGINNINGS

Welcome back to another year of writing prompts to get your creative juices flowing. Since this is the start of a new academic year, we thought we’d start things off by writing about new beginnings.

Poetry: Write about starting fresh. Maybe it’s about moving to a new city or starting a new chapter of your life (starting university, maybe). Focus on the feelings you experienced as you entered this new environment or new phase.

Fiction: Your character is running from the law after being wrongfully accused of a crime. They were framed, and the only way to get away from the authorities was by moving to a new city with a new identity. Where did they go? What is their new identity?

Creative Nonfiction: Write about a time when you were living or working in a place where nobody knew you. This could be when you moved to a new city, started a new job, or went to school where you didn’t know anyone. Did you purposely change your habits or behaviours, or did you behave the way you did before entering this new environment?

Happy writing!
