Weekend Writing Prompt: One-Sided Stories

This weekend we want you to try something a little bit different. We challenge you to write single-sided stories. Feel free to adapt the prompts in a way that suits your writing. If you want to share your work with others, you can submit it for Volume VI of our anthology.

Poetry: Write a poem about unrequited love. What is it like to love someone who does not love you back?

Creative non-fiction: Write about a time when your character was in trouble or wrongfully accused of something, but for some reason or another, nobody was listening to their side of the story. Describe the battle they went through and if they ever convinced others of their innocence?

Fiction: Write a story with multiple characters, but everything is from a single character’s point of view without any direct interaction from other characters. Your character sees and hears others but cannot speak to them. Is this because your character is a ghost? Or maybe there’s something about them that makes others choose to ignore them.

Happy writing!
